Trump Still Says Mexico Will Pay For The Border Wall And Twitter's In Disbelief

One of President Donald Trump’s biggest campaign promises was that he was going to build a wall between the U.S. and Mexico.

The wall will cost a reported $21.6 billion dollars, which many are criticizing as excessive, due to the fact that cuts for way less have been made to the EPA, Meals on Wheels, the NEA, and other food and care programs. Not to mention the fact that walls don’t necessarily have a good track record when it comes to being, you know, effective.

Trump’s stance since declaring he’d build the wall has been that Mexico will ultimately end up paying for it. Shortly after he was elected, however, it was revealed that Congress would be paying for the wall, not Mexico, something that Trump’s critics have been saying for a while.

So when the Donald tweeted that Mexico would ultimately pay for the wall down the line, it came as a surprise to many.

In the tweet, Trump uses predictable fear-mongering tactics to try and blame Democrats for the wall not being built yet.

If you ever wanted a more fitting time to use Hermann Goring’s quote on how easy it is to manipulate people into doing what you want via fear, you’d be hard pressed to find one:

“…the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.”

Twitter obviously had a lot to say about Trump’s insistence that Mexico would somehow pay for the border wall.

They pointed out the ridiculousness of his claim and how it wouldn’t play anywhere else in society.

Others pointed out his history of business flops.

While others continued to demonstrate how ridiculous his claim is.

Jokes aside, one Twitter user broke down all the flawed logic behind the “tariff” idea that’ll “force” Mexico to pay for the wall.
